John is Director (head of) Nutrition, Regulatory and Scientific Affairs for Cereal Partners Worldwide based in Switzerland (CPW). He has been with CPW for 10 years. Prior to joining the company, John lived in Shanghai, China where he was Director of Regulatory & External Affairs for Unilever’s foods business for the Asia Pacific Region. Previous roles he has held include Group Leader for Unilever’s Development Nutritionists Group and European Nutrition & Regulatory Manager for Unilever’s Heart Health brands, both based in London, UK.
He has extensive experience in dealing with nutrition, regulatory and policy aspects of foods and functional foods across different countries and regions.
John has an MA in the Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge specialising in Biochemistry and Molecular Pathology, and an MSc in Nutrition from the University of Glasgow specialising in Public Health Nutrition. During his studies, his interests included the impact of diet on cardiovascular disease and changing patterns in the Mediterranean diet. He also holds an MSc in Business and Management.
John has a number of leadership positions in External Organisations. He sits on the Executive Board of the European Food Information Council and is the current President of CEEREAL, the European Breakfast Cereal Association. In the past, he has held positions on the boards of the HEALTHGRAIN FORUM, ILSEA South East Asia and the Asian Food Information Council. He was also one of the key drivers in the founding of Food Industry Asia (FIA).
John is originally from the island of Cyprus, where he still lives and commutes backwards and forwards to Switzerland. He is married with two small boys.
