About her:

Laura Pirkola is an industrial PhD student in the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences (SLU). Her PhD-project “Dietary fibre, the gut-brain axis and health communication” is conducted in collaboration with Fazer, Örebro University and Uppsala University in Sweden. In the project, Laura is focusing on dietary fibre, microbiota composition and the gut-brain axis, and health behaviour change and communication over whole grain. Laura took her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in human nutrition in University of Helsinki. In her master’s thesis, she studied the effects of low-FODMAP rye bread on the gut symptoms in IBS patients. Before starting her PhD studies, Laura worked with research and nutrition at Fazer.
